Product Overview

DNA-PAT™ is a fully featured, web based project management tool, designed specifically for DNA projects. It provides capabilites that cannot be found in any other project management, database or spreadsheet tool, and, since it is written by an active DNA project administrator, you can be sure that it carries many of the abilities and features that you need to manage a successful project, including customizable, web-ready results page templates that simply "drop"' into your website.

The strength of DNA project management with DNA-PAT™ is further extended by using The Next Generation of Genealogy software™ (TNG-DNA Version)†. This software helps manage everything from your participants individual pedigrees to family documentation. The DNA version builds on the version 5 standard and allows an admin to empower project participants to manage their own lineages including the ability to upload their GEDCOM files. It also provides views, not available in TNG standard, that give visitors snapshot views of project lineages. It's a fantastic way to publicize which families are included in your project.

And, for those more advanced users out there, the DNA-PAT Pro™ version of the software comes with the increased abilities of managing multiple DNA projects, the ability to export data to the .ych format that is used to generate Fluxus diagrams and detailed step-wise mutation models of your results data.

The number one complaint made by people looking for project results information is the difficulty in reading and interpreting the results and group information that has been published. DNA-PAT answers this with customizable, easy to read and results page templates that you don't have to be a web guru to use. These results pages are broken out by matched groups, non-matches, pending results and mtDNA groupings. When used in conjunction with DNA-PAT, any changes that are made to a participant or group with the tool are automatically updated on the results pages, eliminating time consuming HTML coding.



Most DNA projects serve as an tool to compliment traditional genealogy practices. It is for this reason that the DNA testing, as most commonly used, is only beneficial with traditional genealogical research. One of the biggest challenge a project administrator faces is encouraging participants to submit their known genealogies to the project. DNA-PAT helps solve this by partnering up with the The Next Generation of Genealogy (DNA Edition). This relationship combines the incredible user interface of TNG with the dynamic web content of DNA-PAT to empower project participants to submit their genealogies to the project, while at the same time, reducing the amount of time an administrator needs to spend chasing these down.



Advanced users have been discovering the power of Fluxus (Phylogenetic) network diagrams. This technology allows a user to generate a chart depicting the relationship of participants based on their DNA results. The primary input to the Fluxus software (not included...yet!) is the .ych file. Normally, users would have to follow a multi step process to create this file, but with DNA-PAT Pro, you simply select which participants you want to include and with the click of a button, your file is created and ready for charting!
